Our pensions team advises public and private sector employers, trustees, administering authorities and pension providers on a wide range of issues.
Just some of the areas where the team can advise are:
- Advice to employers and/or trustees of defined benefit and defined contribution occupational pension schemes including legal compliance, scheme documentation, funding issues, scheme benefit change, and commercial contracts with third parties such as administrators and investment managers.
- Pension aspects relating to the transfer of staff from the public to the private sector and compliance with the Fair Deal Guidance, TUPE and the Pension Protection Regulations.
- Pensions litigation including member disputes, Pensions Ombudsman complaints, Employment Tribunal claims, as well as formal Court applications for matters such as interpretation and rectification. We are also experienced in handling 'Preston' part-timer pension claims.
- Advice on more bespoke arrangements such as contractual promises, Self-Invested Personal Pension Schemes (SIPPS) and Small Self-Administered Schemes (SSAS).
- Corporate support and pension aspects of merger and acquisition work.
- Pension aspects of service contracts, terminations and redundancies.
