The Health market, worth some Ł90 billion per annum, is undergoing radical and rapid changes. Until recently, it been dominated by the NHS; frequently quoted as the world’s third largest employer after the Indian railway and Chinese Red Army.

The changes that are now happening are far more than structural. They are bringing in a raft of new organisations and making fundamental changes to the culture of existing organisations and exposing them to an increasingly commercial and competitive environment. It is creating a landscape where collaboration and true competition exists side by side with the potential to deliver partnership services and better patient outcomes. At the same time, there is open competition both between NHS organisations and between the NHS and the independent sector.

In this new landscape there is a need for a new breed of specialist legal services and our Health practice is responding and growing appropriately. It has become a practice where we deliberately act for both independent sector and the NHS, translating our unique skills in the New Dynamic – that interface between public and private sector for which Bevan Brittan as a firm has become so well known. Bevan Brittan's Health Division has created a team that is world class in terms of size, national coverage and innovation. It is involved at the cutting edge of projects that are changing the market. In many cases, it is helping to shape these changes themselves.

We currently act for nearly 250 National Health Service clients including Foundation Trusts, Acute Trusts, Primary Care Trusts, Care Trusts, Mental Health Trusts and Strategic Health Authorities throughout the UK.

Our independent sector clients include household name private hospitals, out of hospital care providers and organisations now forming part of the NHS supply chain.

To ensure the highest level of service to our clients we operate through a national team. It consists of over 30 partners and over 160 solicitors operating out of our three offices in London, Bristol and Birmingham.
