Bevan Brittan LLP has hosted a charity screening of the
making of the BBC’s groundbreaking natural history
series ‘Planet Earth’ in aid of the
Guild of Friends of Bristol Children’s Hospital.
At the event, which was attended by 130 people,
a presentation was given by Huw Cordey, one of the
producers of the series who talked about the uniqueness
of the filming and making of Planet Earth and discussed
some of the challenges faced by the production team
during the process.
The screening helped to raise over £3500 for the ongoing
projects of the Guild. The
Guild of Friends of the Bristol Royal Hospital for
Children is a registered charity. It aims to help in the
well-being and happiness of children in the care of the
hospital. The Guild offers assistance to families on
low incomes through their donations to the hospital
social workers to provides the means to help with fares
for visits, meal vouchers and telephone cards. They also
support the play department, cover running costs for a
house where families of long term patients can stay as
well as contributing towards new medical equipment.
For children attending the screening, the programme was
brought to life as Bristol Zoo were on hand with a
selection of
bugs,
snakes, giant snails and preying mantis.
Commenting on the event, Bevan Brittan partner and
Secretary of the Guild,
Caroline Taylor commented: “We were delighted to lend
our facilities to host the screening. Planet Earth was
an amazing series and it was a real pleasure to see the
making of the programme. I am delighted the event was
such a success and we raised so much money for such a
worthy cause.”
