Bevan Brittan has advised Bristol's
Watershed on the £6.4m purchase of its home in two
former dockside warehouses, in a deal which gives it
long-term financial stability and secures Bristol as one
of the most creative cities in Europe.
The E and W Sheds have been bought
from the JT Group
with assistance from the South West Regional Development
Agency (SWRDA) and its current location will turn it
into landlord to a number of bars including The River, E
Shed and Chicago Rock Cafe which will create an annual
income of around £300,000.
Opening in 1982, Watershed was Britain’s first media
centre; promoting creative arts, particularly film and
photography, hosting courses, talks and making
facilities available to individuals and community
groups.
Derrick Price, chair of Watershed said:
"We are delighted to have reached an agreement to buy
the building that will enable us to develop a
sustainable future. Watershed is the gateway to
Bristol’s Harbourside and has immense cultural potential
as the pace of dockside development and digital
convergence accelerates."
Caroline Taylor, property and planning partner at Bevan
Brittan said:
"The team was proud to work on such a
significant project to both the development of Bristol's
city centre and its arts community.”
