National law firm Bevan
Brittan LLP has strengthened its growing
corporate practice with the appointments of
Partner Sarah Cartwright and Senior Associate
Anthony Young. Sarah joins the Birmingham office
in April from Eversheds. Anthony has recently
joined the Bristol practice from Charles Russell
LLP.
Sarah specialises in listed plc work, with
particular emphasis on new issues. She has
extensive experience of dealing with plc
takeovers and advising on a range of regulatory
matters, including all aspects of the Listing
Rules, AIM Rules and general corporate
governance issues. Sarah has also worked on a
wide range of M&A transactions and has a keen
interest in international work. Sarah is a
member of Birmingham Future and was winner of
its Young Professional of the Year (Legal
Sector) award in 2005.
Anthony worked for seven years at Ashurst
following six years of military service. In
addition to mainstream M&A work, including large
and complex cross-border transactions, Anthony
has extensive experience of advising on all
aspects of private equity investment. In recent
years, he has acted on numerous AIM
transactions, including IPO’s and secondary
placings and takeovers. Both lateral hires
swiftly follow the arrival of Head of Corporate
Adam Duthie last summer.
Commenting on the new hires, Adam said: “The
recruitment of Sarah and Anthony is a major step
in the further development of our corporate
offering on a national level and reflects the
firm’s commitment to building this important
area of practice. Their skills and experience
blend with, and are complimentary to, the
existing skill sets within our corporate team.
Their energy and enthusiasm will add significant
strength to our practice, particularly in
relation to large scale M&A work and the public
and private equity markets. Our burgeoning AIM
practice, which is focused on the leisure,
health and education sectors, will be boosted
significantly by their arrival.”
Bevan Brittan Chief Executive Stuart Whitfield
added: “This is the next stage in the strategic
development of our national corporate practice
and we are delighted to welcome two individuals
of such high calibre to our team. I have every
confidence that Sarah and Anthony will make
major contributions to the growth of Bevan
Brittan’s corporate practice in the years
ahead.”
