Bevan Brittan has advised on the £3.8m Management Buyout (MBO) of leading UK educational and office equipment suppliers, The Consortium.

Bevan Brittan acted for the management team on the deal, which reach financial close on 31 March.

The Consortium is a Wiltshire-based supplier of educational and office materials and equipment and is the largest independent supplier of education resources in the UK.  The new management team will now use the MBO as a springboard for further investment in the business.

Although the company was already an existing client of Bevan Brittan, this marks the first instruction for the firm’s corporate team in London.

Bevan Brittan fielded a team led by Head of Corporate Adam Duthie that also included Associate Ian Ilersic and assistant solicitor Jessica McQuillan.

Commenting on the deal, Adam Duthie said: “We are delighted to have advised the management of The Consortium on this MBO, which further underlines the growing national reputation of our corporate practice.”

The buyout was backed by Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), which was advised by Burges Salmon.
