Bevan Brittan secures Motorola as prestigious new client after panel win

National law firm Bevan Brittan is delighted to announce it has been appointed to the new legal panel of global communications leader Motorola.

The new appointment will see Bevan Brittan advise the UK arm of the Fortune 100-listed company on a wide range of legal work including general commercial, UK corporate, product liability, government procurement, litigation and corporate investigations.

A Bevan Brittan pitch team led by client relationship partner David Widdowson secured the high-profile new appointment earlier this year. The team also included IT and digital media partner Sherree Westell, commercial litigation partner Tom Ellis, who heads up the firm’s Commerce, Industry and Services (CIS) division, and commercial associate David England.

The appointment follows a wider review of external legal advisers overseen by Motorola Law Vice President and Regional Director (EMEA) Richard Pitceathly and senior commercial counsel Candace Kendall and is a prestigious addition to Bevan Brittan’s growing portfolio of blue-chip clients in the TMT sector.

This is the latest success for Bevan Brittan during 2008 and follows the firm’s appointments earlier this year to the new-look legal panels of both the Welsh Assembly Government and UK construction giant Costain.

C
ommenting on the appointment, David Widdowson said: “We are absolutely delighted to be associated with such an interesting and exciting company as Motorola.  We are really looking forward to working with Richard and his team, with whom we have already gelled very well.  It is a real testament to the difference in our offering at Bevan Brittan that we are able to forge these new relationships in such a competitive market.”

He added: “Our CV in the TMT sector has gone from strength to strength and it’s our aim to build on this healthy position.”

Motorola, which is based in the US, is a global wireless and broadband communications company and has become a household name in the UK in recent years.
The company currently operates 11 offices in Europe and recorded worldwide sales of US $36.6 billion in 2007.
