My background
Qualified 1969. Solicitor-partner, Hatten Jewers & Mepham,
1969-74. Partner Harris & Harris, 1976-88. Joined Bevan
Ashford as a partner 1988. Partner, Bevan Brittan LLP 2004-.
What I do
I have over 20 years’ experience of planning and
environmental law issues, including waste management. I have
acted for many major landowners and developers as well as
health authorities, trusts, local authorities, and the
Department of Transport. I have a particular interest in the
field of contaminated land, waste disposal and health and
safety law.
Some examples
I provided procurement, contractual and regulatory advice to
West Midlands Waste Consortium on the disposal of waste for
17 NHS trusts and education establishments.
I advised the North & East Hertfordshire NHS Trust following
a police and HSE investigation.
I am advising NHS Estates on the liability for the NHS to
applications for registration of NHS sites as town and
village greens.
I acted on the planning permission and infrastructure
agreements for the new teaching hospital in Birmingham.
I represented Glastonbury Festivals on issues arising from
the 2000 festival including acting on Statutory Nuisance
appeals and prosecutions by Mendip District Council for
serious breaches of the site licences.
