What I do
I have specialised in employment and industrial relations
law since 1979. Over the years I have built up considerable
experience of advising employers in many business sectors on
all aspects of the employment relationship. I bring
practical solutions to employment and industrial relations
problems, as well as providing proactive advice on
developments in UK and EU law.
I also offer practical day to
day support to personnel and line managers on human resource
matters as well as assisting at board level on the
employment aspects of strategic corporate planning. I am a
member of the management committee of the Employment Lawyers
Association, the CBI Employment Relations Committee and the
Institute of Personnel and Development.
I am also a fellow
of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. I lecture
extensively both in-house and for commercial conference
organisations on such topics as sex discrimination, trade
union legislation and European Employment Law.
Some examples
I advised a multinational company on collective
redundancies/contracting out and threatened industrial
action.
I advised two US multinationals on major redeployment
exercises, providing board level advice on consultative
processes across the EU.
I am acting for a number of NHS Trusts in relation to
disciplinary issues concerning consultant surgeons.
I am acting on a high profile disability discrimination
claim brought by a marketing director against a regulatory
