What I do
I specialise in medical law,
with particular experience in Inquests, Inquiries and best
interest cases. I have represented NHS Trusts, as their
advocate, in well over 100 Inquests. I have developed a
particular interest in offender health and have represented
a number of primary care trusts and mental health trusts in
Prison Inquests. As an extension of the Inquest work that I
do, I advise extensively on risk management and clinical
governance issues. In particular, I provide training and
advice on the conduct of serious untoward incident
investigations.
I speak regularly on current medico-legal issues, including
human rights issues, clinical governance, consent and
confidentiality and the court processes in which healthcare
professionals may be involved.
