Partner

Ken is a recognised specialist in property matters for housing associations and registered social landlords.

My background
Articled Bevan Hancock, qualified 1972. Associate Bevan Ashford, 1984-2001. Partner since 2001. Partner, Bevan Brittan LLP 2004-.

What I do
I act on behalf of a wide range of Housing Associations or, as they are more commonly referred to, Registered Social Landlords. My speciality is large scale developments and regeneration projects. The range of clients is from some of the UK's largest RSLs who own in excess of 60,000.00 units of accommodation down to smaller Associations with a few thousand properties.

My background in RSL development arises out of many years experience working for a number of national house builders which is particularly relevant as housing is core to the Government's delivery programme and in order to meet Government housing targets, RSLs are often required to act like developers and housebuilders.

Some Examples
I acted for Places for People Group in the acquisition of a large former Network Rail site in Wolverton, Buckinghamshire involved tri-partite agreements with English Partnership who were putting Grant into the Scheme, the landowner Network Rail and also the Local Authority.

I acted on behalf of a Consortium of Registered Social Landlords on a large scheme involving the acquisition of four sites with blocks of flats in Cheltenham; their demolition and replacement by new affordable housing for local tenants, both for rent and shared ownership.

At the other end of the scale as it were I act for Sarsen Housing Association in acquiring small developments which may be of no more than one to three units of affordable housing accommodation in villages in very rural parts of Wiltshire which has a desperate need for affordable housing.
