My background

What I do
I work for both
private and public sector clients but focus on large
scale property developments
for government bodies (such as local authorities, regional
development agencies, and educational establishments) and
for the NHS.
I also
provide property advice to both public sector bodies and
private sector bidders in PFI/PPP transactions covering a
wide range of facilities from major single site new
hospitals to multi-site waste management plants.
General commercial property transactions are also part of my
work; I advise on freehold property acquisitions and
disposals for local authorities,
NHS bodies, and
commercial clients (including contracts conditional on
obtaining planning permission and contracts with claw-back
provisions to protect future value) and also deal with
leasehold transactions for both landlords and tenants of
hospitals, Council premises, health centres, retail
premises, offices and other operational sites.
Some examples
Having been involved with
drafting the standard form documents for the Government's
nationwide Building Schools for the Future initiative, I
advised on the property aspects of the first scheme to
close, and continue to advise on ongoing BSF schemes. I am
also dealing with a number of Academy projects for local
authorities and have worked with Partnerships for Schools on
reviewing the standard form Academy documentation.
In the more general PFI and PPP sector, I am providing
property expertise to a number of schemes in the health,
education and leisure sectors.
My recent property development projects have included
advising a local authority on a major leisure development on
a reclaimed brownfield site, dealing with the phased sale of
development plots on a Further Education College campus and
acting for a Council on a major site acquisition and
disposal which includes development profit sharing
arrangements.
