I
ntellectual Property (IP)

The lawyers in our team all specialise in intellectual property while at the same time drawing on their strong commercial law backgrounds.

This “excellent” firm accrues much of its IP work from its successful public sector practice. Chambers A Client’s Guide to the Legal Profession 2007

We support and advise clients in sectors where IP is business-critical,  combining the specialist legal skills required for IP transactions with a commercial approach to contract negotiation and the exploitation and procurement of intellectual property rights.

Recent high profile projects include:

  •  Advising Ordnance Survey in relation to the licensing of complex mapping data to private and public sector bodies (including advice in relation to "Pan-European" licensing).

  •  Advising our public sector clients on the issues relating to creation and use of Crown copyright. In particular we have advised on the availability and entitlement to Crown copyright and the benefits afforded by such protection

Services in this area include:

  • Trade marks advice and registration

  • Patents advice and prosecution

  • Copyright advice

  • Designs rights advice and registration

  • Assignments and licences of IPR

  • Confidentiality agreements

  • Exploitation and income generation
